Morris is known within the retail industry as an accomplished strategist and innovator. She has been at the leading edge of almost every retail product trend in the last 30 years, from vertical urban mixed-use buildings in the 70’s to regional malls in the 80’s, lifestyle centers in the 90’s, and the smart growth / new urban movement of today. Noteworthy projects include Colonial Williamsburg, Georgetown Park, Tyson’s Corner, Rosemary Beach and The Summit, one of the nation’s first lifestyle centers. In the Atlanta area the team created the Luckie Marietta district at Centennial Olympic Park, Vickery Village and historic Woodstock Downtown, and is in the planning stages of a village at Big Canoe.
The firm’s projects have won numerous awards, including Urban Land Institute’s Development of Excellence, Atlanta Regional Commission’s Development of the Year, Congress for the New Urbanism’s International Charter Award, the National Association of Homebuilders’ Best in American Living Award, and Better Homes and Gardens Magazine’s “America Neighborhood” distinction.
Morris served for 20 years on the teaching faculty of the ICSC, and as a member of the MAXI Awards Judging Committee.
